The ABO, founded in 1929, is the oldest specialty board in dentistry. It was initially established by Dr. Albert Ketchum and several colleagues, who believed that the specialty of orthodontics should have a certifying body.
Board certification is an elective process. The first step of the certification process is an examination of the applicant’s credentials. Only dentists who have completed an advanced educational program in orthodontics approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) are eligible to apply for certification.
Next, Dr. Joosse had to pass a written examination. Last, he had to present six cases with an oral defense of their treatment and undergo an oral examination of cases presented by the Board for analysis.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Joosse on his newly earned Board Certification in Orthodontics!!! This is a tremendous honor and a distinction only held by 1 in 3 orthodontists nationwide. Board Certification represents the highest level of commitment to the field of Orthodontics, and we are so very proud that he has chosen our team with which to share his talents! Please be sure to congratulate him when you see him.
